As a ceramist, painter and photographer, I thrive on asking questions because I love to learn! My current body of work combines these three skills. I am 50% Japanese and 49% European. this work is titled 1,000 MILES and is focused on my remaining 1% Native American lineage. I know little about the culture and practices of the Nations. The ancestral Native American stories given to me by my grandmother are nearly forgotten and my great-grandchildren will likely be, the final Cultural Assimilation. 1,000 MILES is intended to spark curiosity of the viewer’s own personal lineage and occurrences within our American history by speaking, “for the ones who are remembered - by how they were forgotten”.
